Llandaff Cathedral
Insole Court

BBC Wales has its headquarters on Llantrisant Road.  Designed by Sir Percy Thomas & Son, it was built in 1967.  It is now known worldwide as the home of Doctor Who.

The Cathedral School occupies a large mansion originally known as Llandaff Court. It was built between 1744 and 1751.

Insole Court is a Victorian mansion set in ornamental gardens.  It was the home of the colliery owning Insole family and is now run by Cardiff City Council.  More details.  

Howell’s School was erected in 1860 as a boarding school for thirty ‘orphan inmates’ and thirty ‘pay boarders’.

The Probate Registry in Cardiff Road was designed and built by John Prichard in 1857.  A stunning example of Victorian architecture.

Llandaff Institute

Llandaff Institute was built in 1866, and then revived in 1894 when an old schoolroom was acquired to provide ‘innocent amusement and instruction. See ‘Eating and Drinking’ for opening hours.
